
McGowan, Ayres and Garibaldi Place at 60th Annual Midlands Championships

CHICAGO, ILL. – Marc-Anthony McGowan and Chloe Ayres won fifth place in their respective weight classes on Monday at the 60th Annual Midlands Championships in Chicago.
McGowan, in his collegiate debut, won the medal in the 125 lb class, while Ayres medaled in the 117 women's division.
Sebastian Garibaldi also took sixth place in the heavyweight class, rounding out the Tiger placewinners.
McGowan went 6-2 overall at the tournament, going 3-1 today to clinch the fifth place spot with a 10-7 decision over Penn's #20/17 Max Gallagher. On the way, earned a tech fall victory over Cal Poly's #32/30 Koda Holeman.
On her journey to fifth, Ayres notched four tech fall victories in one day, including wins over North Central's Amaya Yoshizumi and Eden Hernandez, Lindenwood's Caitlin Reiter (Lindenwood), and Presbyterian's Charlee Shuler. She went 5-2 overall on the day.
Garibaldi capped off his 3-2 tournament with a podium finish after a standout fall victory over Bucknell's Nolan Springer in 4:44 as Garibaldi began action in the wrestlebacks.
With three placewinners, Princeton finished in the 10th spot as a team with 39.5 points.
