No. 9 Women's Water Polo Takes Two Wins At Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON – No. 9 Women's Water Polo Team collected two wins at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
No. 9 Princeton 11, Harvard 6
The Tigers ran off with four goals in the first five minutes of action and held a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. Head coach Derek Ellingson's group pushed its lead to five before earning a 7-3 halftime advantage.
Harvard made one push, cutting its deficit to three, 8-5, but the Tigers open the fourth stanza with goals from Ava Houlahan and Kayla Yelensky to put the contest away.
Princeton had four players with two tallies each in Houlahan, Yelensky, Meera Burghardt and Rachael Carver.
Lindsay Lucas had 11 saves in the win.
No. 9 Princeton 21, Siena 9
The Tigers did not allow a goal for the first 7:33 of game action, scoring seven times during that stretch. Princeton led by seven in the second quarter before taking an 11-6 lead into halftime.
The home team ended the third stanza with three consecutive goals to improve its lead to nine, 16-7.
Princeton scored five more times in the fourth quarter, taking the 12-goal victory.
It's the 15th time in program history that the Tigers have registered at least 20 goals in a game.
Ellingson's team completes the Princeton Invitational Sunday vs. Mt. St. Mary's (11:30 a.m.) and No. 21 San Diego State (4:30 p.m.).
