No. 8 Women's Water Polo Welcomes Villanova To DeNunzio Thursday

PRINCETON – The No. 8 Princeton Women Water Polo Team hosts the Villanova Wildcats at DeNunzio Pool on Thursday. The contest will get underway at 6:30 p.m.
The Tigers currently sit at 1-2 overall this season, dropping decisions to No. 4 Hawaii and No. 5 Fresno State while earning a victory over Azusa Pacific. Kayla Yelensky was named CWPA Player of the Week after posting a team-best six goals and 11 drawn ejections during the Hawaii trip. Her five goals vs. Azusa Pacific were a career high.
Shanna Davidson also nabbed five tallies along with two assists while Rachael Carver and Ava Houlahan combined for 11 helpers. Carver now has 134 career helpers and is tied fourth all-time. Her 81 assists in 2023 completely shattered the program mark by 16, a record that stood for 14 years.
Lindsay Lucas had 31 saves in Princeton's three games, adding a .564 save percentage. She was an All-American last season along with Yelensky.
Other top returners from the 2023 CWPA Championship squad include Davidson (42), Kaila Carroll (41), Carver (35), Kate Mallery (34), Meera Burghardt (24) and Houlahan (19).
Villanova is 8-0 this season and off to the best start in its program history.
