Senior Annie Kuehl is Princeton's nominee for ECAC Hockey's Mandi Schwartz Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, which is awarded to the ECAC Hockey student-athlete who most embodies Schwartz's excellence and leadership on the ice, in the classroom, and in the community.
On the ice, Kuehl is second among active Tigers on the team in career goals (29), assists (30) and points (59).
Kuehl, a sociology major who is also pursuing a certificate in gender studies, is a three-time ECAC All-Academic honoree, a two-time AHCA All-American Scholar recipient, and she focused her junior independent research and senior thesis on female student-athletes in the areas of gender discrimination and advocacy.Â
Kuehl serves within the Athletics Department as a Student Athlete Wellness Leader, and she has worked as an intern for Her Next Play, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the next generation of women leaders through sports.Â
Schwartz is a Yale women's ice hockey alum who fought leukemia, passing away in 2011.
The award winner will be announced on Friday.
