Wunder Named Kaz Award Top-10 Finalist
March 05, 2026 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. - For the second straight year, Princeton women's hockey's own Issy Wunder has been named a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, the top honor in women's college hockey.
This is the 13th time Princeton has had a Patty Kaz Award top-10 finalist since the award was first given in 1998, and Princeton has had a top-10 finalist in seven of the last 10 seasons in which the team competed (did not compete in 2020-21), most recently with Wunder last year and Sarah Fillier '24 in 2019, 2020, and 2024. Wunder is the fifth player in program history to be a multi-time top-10 finalist for the honor, named for the 1986 Princeton alumna.
Heading into the ECAC semifinals, Wunder leads the team with 27 and 43 points while leading the nation with eight game-winning goals and standing third at 0.84 goals per game.
The honor is just the latest in recognizing Wunder's standout season. She was named the Ivy League Player of the Year for the second year in a row, was again a finalist for ECAC Forward of the Year, and repeated as a first-team All-ECAC and first-team All-Ivy honoree.
Off the ice, she was the team's lead ambassador for the Let Her Play campaign last year, has served as a volunteer for Reading for the Tigers and coaching Barbies at Baker, has served as a mentor for young hockey players in Toronto, guiding them through high school hockey and the NCAA recruiting process as Canadians, and has taught young players in one-on-one sessions.
The psychology major with a minor in neuroscience was the team's selection for Academic All-Ivy in 2025 and again in 2026.
The top three finalists will be announced on March 11 with the winner announced March 21.
