No. 8 Women's Water Polo Drops Two at Aztec Invite

SAN DIEGO – The No. 8 Princeton Women's Water Polo dropped its final two games of the Aztec Invitational on Sunday.
No. 13 Indiana 10, No. 8 Princeton 9
After the Tigers scored the first two goals of the contest, the Hoosiers rallied to tie the game as the first quarter ended. The second stanza was similar as Princeton jumped in front by two before Indiana finished the first half with two tallies.
The third frame featured three lead changes and ties as neither team led by more than a goal as the fourth quarter began even at 7-all.
The Hoosiers ripped off three consecutive goals, but the Tigers did not go away. Kayla Yelensky scored twice in the final 1:15 to close the gap to one. Princeton did get a final opportunity, but the shot was denied.
Yelensky posted her eighth hat trick of the season and finished with four goals.

The Tritons opened the game with the first three goals and led 4-1 after eight minutes. The Tigers kept the contest within three before UC San Diego scored the last goal of the first half and led 7-3 at intermission.
After the Tritons jumped in front, 9-3, goals by Charlotte Riches, Yelensky and Kaila Carroll cut the Tigers' deficit in half about halfway through the third stanza.
UC San Diego put the game away with two goals in the final minute of the third to take a five-goal lead, 12-7. Princeton could not make another push.
Yelensky led the Tigers with two goals in the loss.
Princeton continues its West Coast trip at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday (2 p.m., 11 a.m. PT).
