Shapiro Has Five Hits In Baseball's Setback at North Carolina

Shapiro's five knocks were one shy of tying the program record set by four different players. The junior is one of 22 players to collect five hits in a game, the last being Brendan Cumming in 2022.
After a Jake Bold RBI single gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, North Carolina countered with a three-run home run from Anthony Donofrio in its half of the first.
Shapiro hit his third career four-bagger in the second, but the Tar Heels responded with a two-run blast from Luke Stevenson a half frame later to make it 5-2.
The home squad put the game away with a three-run fifth and single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
Jake Kernodle also had two hits in the loss.
Princeton and North Carolina finish the series Sunday at 12 p.m.
