Scoring
Princeton stormed from off the pace with a top quality final round performance as a team to claim the team championship at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg.
The Tigers show a team score of -4 over the final 18 holes to post an overall team score of 857 (+5) to best runner-up George Mason by five strokes.
The final round team score of 280 was the second-best team round of the weekend -- only surpassed by Princeton's 276 (-8) during Monday's second round. That blistering second round on Monday is the second lowest round by a Tigers group since the 1993-94 season, bested only by a 272 during the second round of The McLaughlin during the 2010-11 season and the -8 team score is the second-lowest finish to par in a round since the 2005 team was -9 in the second round of the Ivy League Championships.
The tournament win is the first for the Tigers since claiming the 2023 Ivy League Championship, and Princeton's last regular season tournament championship was the 2022 Princeton Invitational at Springdale. The last non-Ivy Championships or Princeton Invitational victory was at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational in October of 2018.
William Huang was the most consistent Tiger over the three rounds, finishing T4 with a score of 213 (E) to lead Princeton. His -3 round of 68 in the second round featured six birdies and he carded 11 birdies overall during his 54 holes of play.
Jackson Fretty posted a three-round total of 215, carding rounds of 75-71-69 to finish +2. He carded five birdies on his way to his -2 round to close the tournament, and had eight birdies overall during the tournament.
Charlie Palmer was T12 at 217 (+4), rallying with rounds of 67 and 73 after an opening round of 77. Monday's second round featured five birdies and just one bogey as he shot his best round of the season.
Tommy Frist also had a standout performance as he navigates his first season of collegiate golf, rebounding from an opening round 77 to shoot 70-71 (141) over the final 26 holes to finish T14 at +5.
Riccardo Fantinelli was 30th overall with a +10 score of 223, but his final round showed exactly what he is capable of as he posted a bogey-free 67 while firing off four birdies to jump 21 spots up the leaderboard from where he ended Monday. Overall during the tournament, he had eight birdies and an eagle which helped rally from early misfortune on Monday's third hole when he scored a 10 on the par-3 hole.
