No. 8 Women's Water Polo Starts West Coast Trip at Aztec Invitational

PRINCETON - The No. 8 Princeton Women's Water Polo Team begins its Spring Break West Coast trip at the Aztec Invitational this weekend (Mar. 9-10).
The Tigers take on No. 17 San Jose State on Saturday (4:50 p.m. ET., 1:50 p.m. PT) along with No. 13 Indiana (12:45 p.m. ET, 9:45 a.m. PT) and No. 13 UC San Diego (5:45 p.m. ET, 2:45 p.m. PT).
Princeton has won 12 straight games after losing the first two contests of the season to No. 4 Hawaii and No. 5 Fresno State. During its current stretch, head coach Derek Ellingson's squad has collected five ranked wins including one over No. 8 Michigan.
Following a 4-0 weekend during a CWPA crossover at DeNunzio, Rachael Carver (Player) and Lindsey Lucas (Defensive) earned conference weekly accolades. Carver leads the team in scoring with 51 points, adding 18 goals and 33 helpers (which also leads the unit). Carver has 161 career assists which is already third in program history.
Lucas is 9-2 this season in goal with 104 stops and a .584 save percentage while CJ Weigel hasn't lost in three starts for the Tigers.
Kayla Yelensky paces the offense for Princeton with 31 goals while Kaila Carroll is right behind her with 29. Carver, Meera Burghardt (14), Ava Houlahan (14), Olivia Krotts (13), and Shanna Davidson (13) each have recorded at least 10 goals for the 12-2 Tigers. Yelensky also has a team-best 24 steals and 21 drawn ejections.
The Tigers climbed to No. 8 in the CWPA Varsity Poll and No. 10 in the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches poll. After the Aztec Invitational, the defending CWPA champions take on Pomona-Pitzer (Mar 13), LMU (Mar. 15) and UCLA (Mar. 16).
