
Men's Basketball Wins Outright Ivy Title With 105-83 Triumph At Penn

Along with it being a three-peat, the title is the fourth under Franklin C. Cappon-Edward C. Green '40 Head Coach Mitch Henderson, as he also guided Princeton to the Ivy Championship in 2017. The Tigers 30 Ivy titles are the most of any program, and Princeton ends regular season play with a 24-3 record and a 12-2 record in Ivy League games.
The Tigers' victory over the Quakers also secures Princeton the No. 1 seed for the Ivy League Tournament, which begins on Mar. 16 inside Levien Gymnasium in New York, New York.
Princeton's 105 points was a scoring record against the Quakers, and the Tigers have now won 11-straight games over the Quakers. Princeton's 105 points was also its most against a Division I opponent since Feb. 16, 2018, against Cornell when the Tigers put up 101 points. Additionally, the Tigers shot 17-for-27 from three, with Princeton's 17 made three-pointers being a season-high.

Sophomore Caden Pierce led the way with a career and game-high 32 points on 11-for-17 shooting from the field, 2-for-4 shooting from three and 8-for-9 shooting from the free throw line. His 11 made field goals were also a career-high, and he tied the game-high in rebounds with nine and handed out four assists. Senior Zach Martini added a career-high 23 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field and 7-for-9 shooting from three, with his eight made field goals and seven made three-pointers being career-highs.The Ivy League Regular Season Champs: Princeton ??

Sophomore Xaivian Lee finished with with 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 shooting from three. He also tied the game-high in rebounding with nine and handed out five assists. Senior Matt Allocco rounded out the Tigers' double figure scorers with 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting from the field, 2-for-3 shooting from long range and 3-for-3 shooting from the free throw line while handing out a team-high six assists.
An early 8-0 run ignited by a Pierce layup saw Princeton race out to a 10-2 advantage with 16:04 on the clock following a Pierce three-pointer. Princeton would soon extend its lead to double figures, 14-4, after a pair of Pierce free throws with 14:07 left in the half. The Tigers would soon extend their lead out to 12 with 10:58 remaining in the half after a freshman Dalen Davis three, 24-12.
Princeton stayed hot, with a pull-up jumper by Davis followed by a junior Blake Peters three-pointer putting the Tigers up, 43-25, with 4:32 on the clock. Early in the second half the Tigers took a 19-point advantage, as Martini drilled a three-pointer at 17:44 then Pierce threw down a two-handed slam with 17:26 remaining to put Princeton up, 59-40. Princeton kept the momentum, with a three-point play by Allocco with 13:12 remaining gave the Tigers a 68-52 lead.
Pierce took over; he completed a three-point play at 9:55 that put Princeton 76-61 then threw down another two-handed dunk that gave the Tigers a 78-63 lead with 9:04 remaining, and his personal tally to 28 on the night. Princeton soon gained a 20-point advantage, 91-71, with 5:32 on the clock after a pair of Pierce free throws and Martini's sixth three-pointer. A three-pointer by Davis with 2:45 remaining put Princeton ahead by 24, 99-75, and the Tigers would go on to secure their 24th victory of the season with a final score of 105-83.
