No. 24 Men’s Tennis Edges No. 72 Yale on Senior Day, 4-3
April 14, 2024 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 24 Princeton Men's Tennis Team got past the No. 72 Yale Bulldogs 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center. Ben Smith was honored before the match for Senior Day.
"We expected another tough battle from Yale and that's what we got," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "Their coaching staff does a great job and has a strong culture. Similar to our earlier 4-3 win against them at the ECAC, we had our chances in doubles but didn't convert. It made for a tougher assignment but our guys responded well and did a great job closing out the four matches we had won the first set. We now turn our attention to the final weekend of the regular season and a chance to win the Ivy title on the road. We'll have a good week of practice and go after it next weekend."
While Sebastian Sec and Alan Kam dispatched Jim Ji and Dylan Tsoi at No. 3, 6-2, the Bulldogs came away with the doubles point.
In singles, Landon Ardila cruised past Jim Ji at No. 4, 6-2, 6-4 while Fnu Nidunjianzan dispatched Theo Dean 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Ellis Short triumphed over Aidan Reilly 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5 and Alan Kam bested Dylan Tsoi at No. 6, 6-4, 7-4.
