PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team collected a series victory with a 3-1 takedown of the Penn Quakers on Sunday afternoon.

The first scoring threat came in the third inning as Jake Kernodle began the at-bat with a hit-by-pitch. He moved to second base on sacrifice bunt and came around to score on this RBI knock by Matt Scannell.

Scannell later scored on DiPietrantonio's double to left field to make it 2-0.

Caden Shapiro scored on a fielding error to extend the Tigers' advantage to three.

Penn's only run came in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Asa Wilson. The Quakers brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth frame, but a fielders' choice finished the contest.

Jacob Faulkner started and went six innings for the Tigers, allowing two hits. He struck out five hitters and faced just three batters over the minimum. Andrew D'Alessio earned his first career save, finishing the contest for Princeton. He struck out three and gave up two hits.

Princeton improves to 12-21 overall and 8-7 in the Ivy League while Penn dropped to 15-20 and 7-8 in conference action. The Tigers are now third in the Ivy standings, trailing Columbia (12-3) and Cornell (10-5). Penn and Yale are one game back while Dartmouth and Harvard are 6-8.

The Tigers finish the home portion of the regular season on Wednesday vs. Wagner. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
