PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team rallied for an 8-6 victory over the Wagner Seahawks on Wednesday afternoon.

Wagner started the scoring with a bases loaded walk and RBI groundout in the second inning.

Princeton put together a six-run frame in the bottom half of the stanza highlighted by a two-run single from Caden Shapiro that put the home squad in front, 4-2. This RBI double by Nick DiPietrantonio made it 5-2.

An RBI groundout from Jake Bold put the home team in front by four, 6-2.

The Seahawks got a run back with a groundout in the next half stanza. Three wild pitches allowed Wagner to tie the game in the top of the sixth.

DiPietrantonio blasted this two-run shot to answer the Wagner rally.

In the seventh, with a runner on first, Wagner's Ariv Camacho hit a fly ball to right center field where Matt Scannell almost made a sensational catch but lost the ball on the transfer. Jake Koonin then threw out the runner to trying to score to keep the contest at 8-6.

Wagner put a runner on in the bottom of the eighth, but Shapiro got a strikeout looking to retire the side. In the ninth, the road squad brought the winning run to the plate, but Matt Scannell got a strikeout for the final out and earned his first career save.

Max Zdimal collected his first career victory. DiPietrantonio and Shapiro had two hits each to pace the Tigers in the win.

Princeton heads on the road this weekend for a three-game set with Dartmouth. The two Ivy foes will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m. and a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
