CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Princeton women's track and field team delivered exceptional performances and shattered records at the Virginia Challenge this weekend. The team showcased remarkable talent and determination, with numerous standout athletes achieving outstanding results in their respective events.
Shea Greene claimed victory in the women's javelin event with a throw of 51.55m (169-1), setting a new personal record. This performance surpassed the sophomore's previous best of 50.88m(166-11), achieved at the Hurricane Alumni Invite just last weekend, and improved upon her current 2nd all-time Princeton mark. Greene was followed by teammate Niki Woods and her throw of 44.35m (145-6), bettering her standing as the 5th all-time javelin thrower in Princeton history.
The duo of Georgina Scoot and Alexandra Kelly delivered another outstanding performance over the weekend. Scoot shattered the school's outdoor triple jump record with a significant leap of 13.26 meters, while Kelly closely followed with a jump of 13.13 meters. As the sole jumpers to surpass the 13-meter mark, Georgina and Alexandra secured a 1-2 finish at the Virginia Challenge, placing them at the top two spots on Princeton's all-time outdoor triple jump list. The two finished 2-3 in the long jump as well, with Kelly's mark of 6.27m (20-7) and Scoot's mark of 6.24m (20-5.75), both demonstrating great consistency in their two events throughout the outdoor season.
Angela McAuslan-Kelly delivered an impressive performance. The freshman achieved a personal best throw of 60.99m (200-1) in the women's hammer throw, earning the third-place finish and meeting the qualification standard for the World U20 Championships for Scotland. The mark also moved McAuslan-Kelly to third all-time Princeton. Annika Kelly placed fourth, just behind McAuslan-Kelly, with a throw of 60.92m (199-10).
Junior Siniru Iheoma had a strong finish and season best in the shot put. Her distance of 15.24m (50-0) placed her third in the competition.
