Victoria Liu Repeats As Ivy League Player Of The Year
April 25, 2024 | Women's Golf
Junior Victoria Liu has been unanimously chosen as Ivy League Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, joining former Tiger standout Kelly Shonn (2013, 2014) as Princeton women's golfers to earn back-to-back selections as the Ivy's top women's golfer.
The award, voted on by the League's coaches and presented based on a golfer's entire body of work over the course of a season, was first presented in 2009 and Liu's selection this season is the sixth time a Tiger has been chosen in the 14 times it has been awarded. In addition to the two each for Liu and Shonn, other Princeton women's golfers to earn Ivy Player of the Year include Susannah Aboff (2009) and Maya Walton (2018).
Liu is just the third women's golfer in the Ivy League to earn multiple Player of the Year honors in a career, Yale's Ami Gianchandani (2019, 2022) the lone non-Princetonian to do so.
The 2022 Ivy League Rookie of the year, Liu earned medalist honors at the 2024 Ivy League Championships with a four-shot victory at The Stanwich Club last weekend. The individual Ivy championship is the second career conference tournament win for Liu who also claimed medalist honors as a first-year in 2022.
On Wednesday, she received her draw for the 2024 NCAA Regionals and she will head to Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas for her third career NCAA appearance May 6-8.
In addition to her Player of the Year selection, Liu was named first-team All-Ivy based off her finish at the Ivy tourney and she was also named Academic All-Ivy for her performance in the classroom.
