Tordin to Return to U.S. U-20s for Training, Games
May 20, 2024 | Women's Soccer
In what will be her fourth call-up with the U.S. U-20 women's national team, Princeton rising junior Pietra Tordin will head to California for training and a pair of games against South Korea in late May and early June.
It'll be a return to the site of Tordin's first U.S. U-20 call-up in January, as the Americans will train and take on the South Koreans at the Dignity Health Sports Park facility in Carson, Calif., with games on May 31 and June 3.Â
Tordin has traveled internationally with the U.S. U-20s, going to Colombia in February and scoring the lone goal in a win over host Colombia, and going to Germany in April.
The training and games are in preparation for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia, set to run Aug. 31-Sept. 22. Ahead of the last FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in 2022, Team USA announced its roster on July 25, a few weeks before the Aug. 10 tournament start.Â
Two years into her Princeton career, Tordin has already loaded up on superlatives and is climbing the program's record lists. Tordin earned United Soccer Coaches third-team All-American honors, becoming the first sophomore-or-younger Tiger to do that since Diana Matheson '08 in 2004. The 2022 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Tordin added a first-team All-Ivy League honor this past season to her second-team all-league recognition from her first season. At 20 goals scored, Tordin already stands 14th on Princeton's career scoring list and is just the fifth player in program history to have at least 20 goals by the end of her sophomore season.Â
