No. 3 Men's Lightweight Rowing's Three Boats Will Race For IRA Gold

WEST WINDSOR - The No. 3 Men's Lightweight Rowing Team had its boats qualify for their respective Grand Finals at the IRA National Championships on Friday.

The 4+ held off a late charge from MIT to finish third in its semifinal (6:35.31), just in front of the Engineers (6:36.8). Earlier in the day, the Tigers had the seventh fastest in the time trial (6:25.98). The Grand Final is Saturday at 11:40 a.m with Georgetown, Penn, Columbia, Harvard and Cornell in the field.

The 2V started the action for the lightweight crew in a race for lanes. The Tigers earned a 5.55.5, 2.2 seconds behind Harvard (5:53.27). The Grand Final is at 9:50 a.m. on Sunday with Yale, Navy, Harvard, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn.

After a two-hour delay, the 1V's heat got underway with head coach Marty Crotty's squad crossing the line at 5:40.0, 2.9 seconds back of Penn. They will race in the A Final at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday with Navy, Dartmouth, Penn, Harvard and Cornell.
