No. 18 Men’s Cross Country Opens Season with New Jersey Jam

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 18 Princeton University men's cross country program will be opening the season on Sept. 6, by hosting the New Jersey Jam.
The meet will be held at the Meadows Campus section of Princeton University.
Defending champion Princeton was ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the U.S Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason poll, the organization announced on Aug. 26.
Princeton won its 24th Ivy League Cross Country Championship in 2023, also finishing 11th at the NCAA Championships.
Returning senior Nicholas Bendtsen was the top finisher for Princeton, placing fourth and earning him First-Team All-Ivy honors with a time of 24:08.5. At the NCAA Championships, Bendtsen finished 29th overall and earned All-America honors.
At Mid-Atlantic Regionals, senior Dan O'Brien 12th finished with a time of 29:47.2 to earn All-Region Honors. O'Brien also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors after finishing 11th in the XC Ivy Heps with a time of 24:24.7.
The Tigers have welcomed six new cross country runners in the Class of 2028 including Steven Hergenrother, Avery Keith, Jacob Nenow, Alex Niemiec, and brothers Franco and Marcello Parra.
Jason Vigilante is in his second season as head coach and 13th season overall with the Tigers.
Vigilante, the 2023 Ivy League Coach of the Year, was ranked 13th nationally by USTFCCA on August 27th, also picking up a team-wide national rank of 18.
Vigilante has helped the Tigers win seven Ivy League Cross Country Championships (2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023) and claim five Triple Crowns (2014-15, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2021-22, 2023-24). He was named head coach of the program on August 9, 2023.
