Men's Basketball Rallies Back From 20 Down But Falls To Yale, 77-70

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team was able to trim a 20-point deficit down to just five Friday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium, but the Tigers fell just short to Yale, 77-70.

Freshman Jack Stanton finished with a team and season-high 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and 3-for-5 shooting from three while senior Blake Peters added 15 points and went 4-for-9 from three. Sophomore Jackson Hicke also scored a career-high 13 points for the Tigers. Junior Caden Pierce led the team in rebounding with six, while junior Xaivian Lee handed out a game-high seven assists. Lee's 110 assists in 2024-25 rank No. 15 all-time in program history for most assists in a season.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 10-point lead with 12:16 on the clock, 22-12, but a three-pointer by Peters along with a pair of Hicke three-pointers narrowed the deficit to three, 24-21, with 9:50 remaining in the half. Yale would again take double figure lead at 6:42, 34-23.

Two more Peters three-pointers made it a seven-point game with 2:17 on the clock, 39-31, but the Bulldogs took a 44-34 advantage into the half.

 A 10-0 run by Yale saw the Bulldogs surge ahead, 57-39, with 13:50 on the clock. Five-straight points by Hicke made it a 57-44 contest at 11:56, but the Bulldogs extended their lead back out to 20 with 7:37 left to play at 69-49.

Stanton got hot late, with a pair of three-pointers making it a 10-point game with 4:03 left to play, 71-61. The Tigers make it a five-point game at 75-70 after Stanton banked in a floater, but Yale was able to hold on for the 77-70 triumph.
