October 17, 2025 | Women's Ice Hockey
STORRS, Conn.- The Princeton women's hockey team hit the road for the 2025-26 season opener against the UConn Huskies.
The defense held strong throughout the first period of play as the score remained tied at 0-0. The Huskies thought they had opened the scoring, however the call was overturned after review.
After two scoreless periods, UConn broke through in the second to take the lead. The Huskies used the momentum to kill off the Princeton power play and held a 1-0 advantage through 40 minutes of play.
Capitalizing on a power-play opportunity, the Tigers responded late in the third, tying the game at one apiece. Preseason All-ECAC Mackenzie Alexander found the back of the net for her first goal of the 2025-26 campaign with Megan Healy and Rosie Klein recording the assists.
Two costly penalties by Princeton sealed the deal as UConn scored on a power play of their own, taking the win 2-1.
Uma Corniea had 25 saves for the Tigers in net.
Princeton will take on the Huskies again for the second game of the weekend series tomorrow at 1:00 PM.
