Women's Volleyball Falls On The Road At Yale

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team fell to Yale at Payne Whitney Gymnasium Friday night, 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-14).
Valerie Nutakor and Shelby Burriss tied the team-high in kills with seven, with Burriss also leading the Tiger in blocks with three. Sydney Bold's 27 assists were a team-high, while Sydney Bold recorded a match-high 14 digs.
The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, opening with a 4-0 run, but a Lucia Scalamandre kill ignited a 4-0 Princeton run that tied it up at 5-5. The two teams battled back-and-forth, with a Yale service error putting the Tigers ahead, 13-12. Princeton and the Bulldogs battled to a stalemate at 22-22, but Yale closed the set out on a 3-0 run to earn a 25-21 first set victory.
Led by a Burriss kill, the Tigers opened the second set on a 3-0 run. Yale responded with a 4-0 run to take the lead, but Princeton kept it close after a kill by Scalamandre sparked a 4-0 run to make it 12-11. A 10-0 Bulldog run swung the momentum Yale's way, and the Bulldogs went on to triumph 25-14.
The momentum stayed with Yale in set three. While the Tigers were able to keep it close at 13-9, a 3-0 run extended the Bulldogs' lead to 16-9. A 4-0 Yale run pushed its advantage to 22-12 and the Bulldogs would go to win the third set with the scoreline as the second, 25-14.
