Furious 4th Quarter Rally Gives Women's Basketball 73-68 Win Over Villanova

VILLANOVA – A furious fourth quarter comeback led the Princeton Women's Basketball Team over the Villanova Wildcats, 73-68, at Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday evening.
With 8:33 to go, Villanova's Jasmine Bascoe knocked down a mid-range jumper to put the Wildcats up nine, 59-50.
All would seem lost to most teams …
But not the team with the manta #GetStops
Villanova did not hit another field goal the rest of the game.
Fueled by their defense and hot shooting over the final frame, the Tigers outscored the home team, 23-11.
After a free throw by Bascoe put Villanova ahead, 68-67, with 1:16 to go, Skye Belker hit a big three-pointer to put Princeton in front for good as the clock ticked under a minute.
Princeton hit three free throws down the stretch while forcing two more stops to secure the comeback victory.
Villanova used a 10-4 run in the first quarter to take a 19-13 lead after 10 minutes. The Wildcats led by as many as 11 points in the second frame but settled with a 33-29 halftime advantage.
The Wildcats expanded to their lead to 14, 47-33, at the 7:20 mark of the third stanza. According to ESPN, Villanova reached a win probability of 92.5 percent at that time.
Princeton worked itself back into the contest as an Ashley Chea bucket at the end of the quarter cut the deficit in half, 57-50, before the rally started.
Fadima Tall led the Tigers in scoring with a career-high 21 points and five steals, adding nine rebounds. Madison St. Rose produced 17 points while Belker registered nine of her 13 points in the final frame.
Head coach Carla Berube's team improves to 2-0 overall while Villanova drops to 2-2 this season. The Tigers head back on the road to take on No. 9 Maryland on Sunday (Nov. 16). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
