Women's Basketball Falls To No. 7/9 Maryland

COLLEGE PARK – A strong third quarter pushed the No. 7/9 Maryland Terrapins over the Princeton Women's Basketball Team, 84-68, at the Xfinity Center on Sunday afternoon.
In front by four, Maryland used a 20-8 run to stretch its advantage to 18, 56-38, with 2:25 to go in the third frame. Princeton closed the gap to 11 twice in the fourth stanza but could not inch any closer.
The Terrapins had a 10-0 sprint to end the first quarter to take 26-10 lead after 10 minutes.
Princeton made its push with under four minutes to go in the first half. After seven straight points, this three from Toby Nweke forced a Maryland timeout.
A Olivia Hutcherson bucket made it a 12-0 sprint to end the first half and cut the road team's deficit to four, 34-30.
Madison St. Rose led the Tigers with 20 points, adding four dimes. Hutcherson set a new career high with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, collecting eight rebounds and two steals.
Princeton drops to 2-1 overall while Maryland improves to 5-0 this season. The Tigers host Rice on Wednesday at Jadwin Gym. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
