Women’s Hockey Shuts Out Providence 3-0
November 14, 2025 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton women's hockey team loves playing at home. The squad's Friday night contest against the Providence Friars marked Princeton's fifth consecutive home game. The Tigers are 3-1 on the year at Baker Rink and moved to 4-1 with a 3-0 victory over the Friars.
Two quick goals in the first period proved to be the difference maker along with a shutout from first year goaltender Lia Nevo.
Issy Wunder snapped a three-game scoring drought with a goal just over halfway through the first. Gabby Kim launched the puck up to Riley Sorokan who dumped it to the side for Wunder. Wunder got the shot off and found the back of the net to put Princeton up 1-0.
With time winding down in the first period, the Friars had the puck in their defensive zone and looked to work it up. Ani Kozak read the pass, got the steal and was off to the races. Kozak launched a top shelf goal to put the Tigers ahead by two. The tally marks the junior's first career goal and point.
Princeton and Providence were held scoreless in the second but an empty netter from Mackenzie Alexander in the final minutes iced the game for Princeton.
In her first career start, Nevo made 20 saves between the pipes for the first win of her collegiate career.
Princeton outshot Providence 65-46 with the Tigers leading the shots on goal statline 37-20.
The Tigers and Friars will be back at Baker Rink for a Saturday matinee game. The contest is scheduled for 2:00 PM to wrap up the weekend.
