Men's Basketball Drops Road Contest at #25 Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Princeton University men's basketball team faced No. 25 Kansas for the first time since 2001 Saturday afternoon inside Allen Fieldhouse, falling to the Jayhawks with a final score of 76-57.
The Tigers' game in Allen Fieldhouse was its first since 1999.
Junior Dalen Davis led the Tigers with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists while sophomore Jack Stanton added 15 points and connected on four three-pointers. Junior Jackson Hicke also scored in double figures with 12 points and added four rebounds and three assists.
The Tigers got off to a strong start, with back-to-back three-pointers by Davis and Hicke putting Princeton in front with 14:35 remaining in the half, 11-7. Shortly after, Davis found sophomore CJ Happy for a powerful two-handed slam with 13:48 on the clock to five the Tigers an 11-7 lead. Princeton soon extended its lead to five, 18-13, after Davis made a turnaround jumper at 10:44.
Determined to protect their home court, the Jayhawks used a 9-0 run to take a 22-18 advantage with 6:30 remaining, but a three-pointer by Stanton followed by a Davis free throw tied it up at 22-22 with 4:09 on the clock. Kansas got hot and made a run to end the half and took a 37-29 advantage into halftime.
The Tigers came out of the half firing, with back-to-back three-pointers by Stanton, including a four-point play, made it a 39-36 contest with 18:00 left to play. A three-pointer by Davis made it a one-point game, 44-34 with 14:23 remaining but an 11-0 run by the Jayhawks extended Kansas' advantage out to 15, 64-41, with 10:10 on the clock.
A layup by freshman Landon Clark with 3:24 remaining led a 6-0 run as the Tigers showed fight down the stretch. but the Jayhawks went on to earn the 76-57 victory.
