Four Double Figure Scorers, Gritty Defensive Effort Power Men's Basketball Past Northeastern, 70-57

PRINCETON, N.J. – Four double figure scorers and a gritty effort on the defensive end powered the Princeton University men's basketball team to a 70-57 triumph over Northeastern Thursday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
The victory was the Tigers' fourth consecutive over the Huskies.
Princeton limited Northeastern to just 37.3% shooting from the field (22-for-59) and 10.5% shooting from three (2-for-19), both season-lows. The Tigers also out-rebounded the Huskies, 37-34.
Junior Dalen Davis tied the team-high in scoring with 14 points and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Sophomore Jack Stanton recorded 13 points, five rebounds and two steals while sophomore Malik Abdullahi finished with 11 points and a game and career-high nine rebounds.
The Tigers opened the game with three-pointers by Stanton and Davis, going up 6-0 with 17:01 on the clock. A layup by freshman Sebastian Whitfield led a 6-0 run that put Princeton ahead 14-9 at 10:43, then a second Stanton three-pointer put Princeton ahead by seven, 17-10, with 10:08 left in the half.
At 4:06, a three-pointer by freshman Landon Clark ignited a 7-0 run that gave the Tigers a 31-16 advantage with 2:50 left in the half. Princeton went on to take a 33-20 lead into halftime.
After Davis went 3-for-3 from the free throw line, the Tigers extended their lead to 14 with 16:29 remaining, 40-26. The momentum stayed with Princeton; after an Abdullahi layup then a three-point play junior Jackson Hicke the Tigers went up 51-35 with 9:45 on the clock.
Northeastern was able to narrow the deficit to 11, 59-48, at 2:35, but accurate free throw shooting down the stretch sealed the win for the Tigers with a final score of 70-57.

Junior Jacob Huggins had a career-night for the Tigers, scoring a team and career-high 14 points on 2-for-3 shooting from the field and 10-for-12 from the field, with his 10 made free throws also a career-high.
