Ivy League Tournament
Final vs. Dartmouth, Sunday, 1 p.m. | ESPN+ | Int'l Video | Live Stats | Tickets
Where we are: In one month, the Princeton women's soccer team has gone from being on the outside looking in at even being a part of the Ivy League Tournament to winning the Ivy League title, hosting the Ivy League Tournament, and now being within one win of the NCAAs. During the six-game winning streak, which included closing 4-0 in the Ivy to win the title before affirming the regular-season finale win over Brown with Thursday's Ivy semifinal win, Princeton has outscored opponents 16-2 and has seen nine players contribute to those 16 goals with Alexandra Barry scoring four.Â
What's different: In the 2-5-3 start, Princeton scored 0.8 goals per game, allowed 1.5, scored on 4.5 percent of its shots while taking 17.6 shots per game, made 68.1 percent of saves, had 10 assists in 10 games, and drew nine yellow cards. In the 6-0 run since, Princeton has scored 2.67 goals per game, has allowed 0.33 goals per game, scored on 22.5 percent of its shots while taking 11.8 per game, made 89.5 percent of its saves, notched 17 assists over the six games, and was booked for a yellow card only twice. For the Tigers, 32.4 percent of their shots were on goal over the first 10 games and 42.3 were on goal since. For the opponents, 48 percent of shots were on goal over the first 10 games and 30.6 percent were on goal in the six games since.Â
Individually, Alexandra Barry, who scored twice in the regular-season finale against Brown, has had four goals and three assists over the last six games after one goal and one assist over the first 10. Sophomore classmate Dylan Jovanovic has two goals and three assists over the last six after three assists over the first 10. Rookie Maddie Recupero has two goals and two assists over the last six after no points over the first 10, and senior Drew Coomans has a goal and three assists over the last six games after one assist over the first 10 games. Between the posts, Sydney Romano had a 1.41 GAA and a .769 save percentage while allowing three goals in 191 minutes over the first 10 games. Since, in 262 minutes, Romano has a 0.34 GAA and an .833 save percentage while allowing one goal. Cecilia Cerone played 708 minutes and allowed 12 goals over the first 10 games for a 1.52 GAA and a .636 save percentage. Since, Cerone has allowed one goal in 278 minutes for an 0.32 GAA and a .923 save percentage.
Recently vs. Dartmouth: It's been 885:20 since Princeton allowed a goal to Dartmouth. The last Big Green goal came in the 43rd minute of a 3-2 overtime win over Dartmouth in Hanover in 2015. In Princeton, it's been 454:18 since Dartmouth's last goal against the Tigers, which came in a 2-2 in 2014 at the previous Roberts Stadium. The Tigers have outscored Dartmouth 6-0 in the two games at the current Roberts, in 2022 and 2024. Princeton has won the last six overall against the Big Green and have gone 9-0-2 since the Tigers' last loss in the series, in 2013. At home, Princeton has won the last two since a 2018 tie and have gone 6-0-2 since last losing at home to Dartmouth in 2006. In this year's 2-0 Tiger win in Hanover, it was a pair of rookies with the goals as Maddie Recupero and Julia Johnson scored, supporting Sydney Romano and Cecilia Cerone splitting the shutout in net with Romano making three saves and Cerone two. Their opposite, Ola Goebel, made three saves in going the full 90.
Ivy League Tournament history: Princeton is one of three teams to have made all three Ivy League Tournaments, along with Columbia and Brown, and has the highest average seed, 1.67, after a third in 2023 and back-to-back top seeds. After Harvard won in 2023 at Brown, Princeton is looking to win its second straight title after defeating Harvard 3-1 in the semis and Brown 2-0 in the final last year at Roberts Stadium to become the first team to sweep the Ivy and Ivy Tournament titles. The higher-seeded team is now 6-2 in the six Ivy tournament games, with a lower-seeded team winning one semifinal each year and the higher-seeded team winning the final. This year is the first year that the higher-seeded team won both semifinals. With its win on Thursday, Princeton became the first team to make multiple Ivy Tournament finals as it looks to become the first team to win multiple tournament titles. The single-game, tournament and career goal records belong to Harvard alum Josefine Hasbo, who now plays up the road in Harrison for the NWSL's Gotham FC, after Hasbo scored a hat trick in the 2023 final and a goal in the 2023 semi against Princeton to set the single-game (three), tournament (four) and career (four) scoring records. Drew Coomans, the 2024 ILT Most Outstanding Player, is the lone active Tiger to have earned ILT All-Tournament Team honors.
Historical notes on the Tigers' run: Princeton became the first two-loss team to win the Ivy League since round-robin league play began in 1982. Princeton's 15 points were the second-fewest to win the league, ahead of only the 14 with which Penn won the league in 2010 on a 4-1-2 record. The Ivy began awarding three points for a win in 2005 after two for a win prior to that, but even under the current formula, Princeton's 15 points were the second-fewest since the league had eight teams playing women's soccer beginning in 1991. Though the Ivy League title is Princeton's 12th, it's the first time that Princeton has won back-to-back titles outright. Coupled with the Tiger men's team also winning outright, it's the first time that both Tiger soccer teams won the outright title in the same year.Â
Outshoot 'em: In 180 games under Sean Driscoll, Princeton has outshot its opponent in overall shots 135 times and has equaled its opponent in total shots three times, getting outshot 42 times, or in just more than once every five games (23.3 percent).Â
Tigers in the NWSL: Princeton has six players currently on NWSL rosters:
• Pietra Tordin, Portland Thorns: Tordin played in 24 games during the regular season and made nine starts, scoring four goals. Portland is headed to this weekend's NWSL quarterfinals as the third seed.
• Tyler Lussi '17, North Carolina Courage: Lussi played in 21 games and made 14 starts, scoring two goals. North Carolina just missed out on the playoffs, one point back of the eighth and final spot.

• Madison Curry '24, Seattle Reign: Curry started 24 games and played in all 26 for Seattle, which will be the fifth seed in this weekend's quarterfinals.

The staff: Head coach Sean Driscoll is in his 11th year with Princeton and 10th competitive season (team did not compete in 2020), and has the most Ivy League Coach/Coaching Staff of the Year honors since the award began in 2014, with four (2015, 2017, 2018, 2024). He's Princeton's second-winningest coach, with 115 wins (Julie Shackford, 203 wins, 1995-2014), and with his 40 wins at Manhattan (2005-09) added in, Driscoll has 155 career victories. Associate Head Coach Mike Poller has been with Driscoll for the entire Tiger tenure, and assistant coach Chris Duggan is in his fourth season with the program. Under Driscoll, Princeton has won five Ivy League titles (2015, 2017, 2018, 2024, 2025) and has made six NCAA tournaments (2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2023, 2024), making the second round in 2015, 2017, 2021 and 2023 and the quarterfinals in 2017.Â
