CJ Happy Records Second Straight 20-Point Game, Men's Basketball Drops Close One At Monmouth, 63-58

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Sophomore CJ Happy recorded a second straight game with at least 20 points, but the Princeton University men's basketball team dropped a road contest to Monmouth inside the OceanFirst Bank Center, 63-58.
Happy tied the game-high with 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and 4-for-8 from three while also recording a game-high four assists and three rebounds. Sophomore Jack Stanton added 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting along with a career and game-high nine rebounds.
While the Hawks took a 13-6 lead with 13:00 remaining in the first half, but a layup by junior Jacob Huggins with 11:12 on the clock ignited a 7-0 run that tied it up at 9:19, 16-16. A 6-0 run by Monmouth would give the Hawks a 26-19 advantage with 4:38 left in the half, but a layup and three-pointer by Stanton narrowed the deficit to two, 29-27, with 00:57 on the clock. A late basket by Monmouth saw the Hawks take a 31-27 advantage into halftime.
Princeton showed fight in the second half, with an 8-0 run that included a layup by freshman Jacob Hammond along with a pair of Happy three-pointers giving the Tigers a 39-37 advantage with 13:32 remaining. Monmouth battled back and took a 57-48 lead with 5:19 remaining after a 6-0 run.
A three-pointer by Hicke with 00:58 left to play reduced the deficit back to two, 60-58, but Monmouth would hold on for the 63-58 victory.
