PRINCETON, N.J. – After breaking his own Ivy League record in the mile, Harrison Witt was named Ivy Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
At the BU Valentine Invite on Friday, Witt ran a blazing 3:52.87 in the mile to set, crushing his own Ivy League and Princeton record of 3:56.12 set just weeks ago at the Penn 10 Elite meet. His time currently ranks 11th in the NCAA, and it improved upon his own personal record by nearly four seconds.
The record is Witt's second in the Princeton books after he broke the school record in the 1000m earlier this season at the Princeton Navy Dual.
The award is Witt's first weekly honors of the season and his career.
Witt is the 2022 Indoor Ivy Champion in the 1000m, and he also earned First-Team All-America honors after competing in the DMR at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
