Baseball Finishes Off Series Sweep Over Dartmouth

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton baseball team began the day with a walk off win from Jake Koonin to complete the 14 inning second game of the series with the Dartmouth Big Green. Just 30 minutes later the two teams were back on the field for the series finale.
Using its momentum from the win, Princeton took down Dartmouth to complete the sweep by a score of 8-1.
Liam Kineen started on the mound for the Tigers and opened the contest with two swinging strikeouts to strand two Big Green runners.
Princeton got the scoring going in the second when Jake Kernodle came around to score on Nick Shenefelt's second triple of the weekend. Shenefelt was brought in on a sac-fly from Tommy Googins to make it a 2-0 lead in favor of the Tigers.
Another three runs came in the fourth on Grant Werdesheim's RBI single before causing chaos on the basepaths. The freshman stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. In the same at bat, Werdesheim was able to slide home to give Princeton a 5-0 advantage.
Jordan Kelly hit a sac-fly and Kevin Blowers notched an RBI single to extend the lead. Koonin added an insurance run in the seventh after Kinneen finished his outing on the bump. The freshman struck out four batters and shutout Dartmouth for seven innings.
Kaden Kram closed out the game and allowed just one run as Princeton swept the conference opening series.
Princeton recorded 12 walks and seven players notched a hit in the win.
The Tigers will head to Piscataway to face Rutgers on Wednesday Mar. 26 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 PM.
