Baseball Drops Midweek Matchup To Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J.- The Princeton University baseball team traveled down the road to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Wednesday afternoon. After taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Rutgers got into a groove as Princeton fell to the Scarlet Knights by a score of 8-1.
Jake Bold knocked a two-out solo shot over the left field wall for the first run of the game for the Tigers. The home run is Bold's third of the season.
Nick Shenefelt started on the bump for Princeton and tossed two scoreless innings while adding two strikeouts.
Rutgers plated four unearned runs and hit a two-run homer off Kaden Kram to make it 6-1. The Scarlet Knights were able to add two more unearned runs in the seventh to the scoreboard to wrap up the game.
Princeton will return to Clarke field this weekend to face the 2024 regular season champions in the Columbia Lions.
