PRINCETON, N.J. – After beginning the outdoor season last weekend in Philadelphia, the Princeton men's track and field program will make the short trip to West Long Branch for the Monmouth Season Opener on Friday March 28 and Saturday March 29.Â

Last weekend, the Tigers began the outdoor season with the Penn Challenge. Casey Helm highlighted the day, winning two events. The junior threw a new personal best in the discus throw with a mark of 59.90m/196-06", improving on his previous best of 58.72m/192' 8" from last April. Helm also won the shot put with a mark of 18.17m/59-07.50".

The Tigers also had a strong day in the sprinting events, beginning with a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100. Jadon Spain took first with a time of 10.53. Zach Della Rocca took second with a time of 10.68, while Charles Sexton took third with a time of 10.77.Â

In the 200m, Easton Tan took first with a time of 21.71, while Kavon Miller clocked in at 21.80 for second.Â

Avery Keith won the 3000m with a time of 8:29.53. He also set a new PR in the 1500 with a time of 3:54.50.

For his efforts, Helm was named the Ivy League Athlete of the Week on Monday. The award is the first of his career.Â

Princeton is entering the outdoor season after winning its 10th-consecutive indoor and fourth-consecutive cross country title, looking to complete the Triple Crown this Spring.Â

At last year's Outdoor Heps, the Tigers achieved their 11th all-time Triple Crown at home in Weaver Stadium, winning Ivy Outdoor Heps for the 22nd time after compiling 204.5 points. The Triple Crown was also the first under Head Coach Jason Vigilante. Jackson Clarke was named Most Outstanding Track Performer after winning the 100 meters and the 200 meters while also helping Princeton finish second in the 4x100 meter relay.
