Women's Track and Field Dominates Monmouth Season Opener

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Winning eight events, the Princeton women's track and field team took first place at the Monmouth Season Opener on Friday and Saturday in West Long Branch, N.J.
With a score of 172, the Tigers took first in a field of 20 teams by 59 points.
Shea Greene won the javelin, throwing a mark of 52.14m/171-00". Her mark set a new NCAA #10. Kameil Crane and Niki Woods were just behind her, taking second and third place with marks of 42.90m/140-09" and 42.83m/140-06", respectively, as the Tigers earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the event.
The Tigers also earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the discus, with Siniru Iheoma winning with a mark of 53.83m/176-07". Makenna Marshall took second with a new PR of 51.86m/170-01", and Layla Giordano took third with a mark of 51.43m/168-08".
Iheoma also won the shot put, throwing 15.31m/50-2.75".
Alyssa Carrigan won the high jump, jumping 1.73m/5-08.00 for a new NCAA #32 mark. She was also just one inch off her personal best.
Maisha Atkinson had a huge race in the 200, clocking in at 23.68 for a new PR and first in the event, just one hundredth of a second off the school outdoor record of 23.67. Georgina Scoot also set a new PR in the 200, running 24.71 to improve from her previous best fo 25.14 last March.
Julia Jongejeugd won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.78 for a new NCAA #37.
Maddie Cramer set a new PR and won the 1500m with a time of 4:28.03, improving nearly 10 seconds from her previous best of 4:37.24.
In the 4x100 relay, a team of Scoot, Alexandra Kelly, Franziska Burchett and Atkinson took first, running 46.84.
