PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton women's track and field team will host the Sam Howell Invitational and Distance Carnival on Friday, April 4th at home in Weaver Stadium.
The Tigers return home after winning the Monmouth Season Opener in West Long Branch, N.J. last weekend. With a score of 172, the Tigers took first in a field of 20 teams by 59 points.
Shea Greene won the javelin, throwing a mark of 52.14m/171-00". Her mark currently ranks 13th on the NCAA qualifying list.
Kameil Crane and Niki Woods were just behind her, taking second and third place with marks of 42.90m/140-09" and 42.83m/140-06", respectively, as the Tigers earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the event.
Maisha Atkinson had a huge race in the 200, clocking in at 23.68 for a new PR and first in the event, just one hundredth of a second off the school outdoor record of 23.67.
Georgina Scoot also set a new PR in the 200, running 24.71 to improve from her previous best fo 25.14 last March.
Julia Jongejeugd won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.78 for a new NCAA #37.
Maddie Cramer set a new PR and won the 1500m with a time of 4:28.03, improving nearly 10 seconds from her previous best of 4:37.24.
At the Penn Challenge on March 21 where the Tigers opened the outdoor season, the Tigers won two events, with several setting personal records. Atkinson won the 100m dash with a time of 11.90, setting a new personal record in the event. The Tigers also had a strong day in the field events, as Jana Ter Wee won the women's shot put with a throw of 13.20m/43-0.75" and Shantell Kwofie set a new personal best in the javelin, throwing 32.66m/107-02".
Princeton enters the outdoor season looking to complete the Triple Crown after winning the Ivy Cross Country Championship this Fall and winning the Ivy Indoor title this winter. The titles marked the program's first since 2015 in cross country, and first since 2011 for indoors.
