Baseball Falls To Columbia In Rubber Match

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton baseball team faced the Columbia Lions in the Sunday rubber match of the weekend series.
Columbia got going early and never looked back on its way to a 9-2 win over Princeton. The Lions got the first run on the top of the second before bringing in four just one inning later.
Princeton starter Liam Kinneen tossed 4.2 innings before Nick Shenefelt came in for relief in the fifth.
The Lions extended their lead in the sixth on a three run homer.
Looking to avoid the shutout, the Tigers scratched across two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Joseph Zorc walked and Tommy Googins singled to give Princeton some base runners. Jake Koonin was able to reach on a throwing error as Zorc and Googins touched home.
The three final pitchers for Princeton in Jackson Baldrate, Max Zdimal and Richard Ferrer-Westrop kept the Lions from adding anymore runs. Ferrer-Westrop struck out all three batters he faced.
