March 09, 2025 | Baseball
RICHMOND, Va.- Princeton faced the VCU Rams on Sunday afternoon for the final game of the three game series. The Tigers were unable to plate any runs as Princeton fell to the Rams 11-0.
Princeton looked to get going early in the top of the first with two runners on, but was stopped short after a double play.
Liam Kinneen recorded a quick inning of work with back-to-back strikeouts to close out the side. He followed it up with another three-up three-down inning in the second.
VCU was able to break through in the third with a two-out rally to score two on a single to left.
The Tigers broke the no hitter in the fourth with a Jake Kernodle single but the sophomore was left stranded.
The Rams bumped their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth on a three run homer to centerfield. Jacob Faulkner came in for Kinneen who ended his day after 4.2 innings, five runs on six hits and four punchouts.
Faulkner kept VCU at bay through his 2.1 innings before Kaden Kram came in from the bullpen. The Rams jumped on the new pitcher as they put up six runs in the eighth to finish out the matchup.
Princeton will head to Williamsburg for two midweek games against the William & Mary Tribe. The first game is set for Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 3:00 PM.
