Princeton Women's Rowing Heads To New York To Battle Cornell and Harvard
April 11, 2025 | Women's Rowing - Open
PRINCETON – The No. 4 Princeton Women's Rowing Team heads to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to take on Cornell and Harvard for the Class of 1975 Cup.
The Tigers opened the 2025 season with an impressive start against No. 7 Brown on Lake Carnegie. The 1V retained the Class of 1987 Trophy with a 3.6 second decision. Princeton's 2V, B4, and 3V also won with Brown's only victory coming in the varsity four.
Princeton has won the last nine Class of 1975 Cups and leads the all-time series over Harvard and Cornell, 33-13-1. Cornell's only win came in 1983 while Harvard's last victory was 2013. The Cup is named after the first oarswomen to row all four years at Princeton, Maurya Meenan '74, Cate Huisman '75, Abby Rubenfeld '75, Janet Youngholm '75 and Carol Brown '75.
The Tigers return all five All-Americans from last season in Katherine George, Zoe Scheske, Margot LeRoux, Sara Covin and Katharine Kalap. Those five were on the first varsity that finished fourth at the NCAA Rowing Championships and helped the team finished fourth overall. It was the first time the Tigers have been in the top four in three consecutive seasons since 2010-13.
That boat went unbeaten during the regular season and won the Ivy League title for head coach Lori Dauphiny's squad.
At the Paris Olympic Games in the summer, Princeton had four alumnae in Claire Collins '19, Kelsey Reelick '14, Emily Kallfelz '19 and Hannah Scott '21 represent their countries. Reelick '14 and Kallfelz '19 led the U.S. four to fourth overall while Collins' 19 helped the U.S. eight to fifth.
Scott '21 helped the Great Britian quad sculls to gold. Scott became the first rowing gold for Princeton since Caroline Lind '06. One day later, Nick Mead '17 joined Scott as he led the U.S. men's four to the top spot.
