If Princeton wins four of its last six Ivy League games, the Tigers will win at least a share of the Ivy title and will host the Ivy League Tournament, regardless of other results in the league. Going 4-2 down the stretch would put Princeton at 16-5, and the only other team that could match that record is Dartmouth, over which Princeton has the tiebreaker to host the Ivy tournament as Princeton took two of three from the Big Green in the teams' regular-season series.Â
In the race for an Ivy League Tournament bid which will go to the top four teams in the standings, Princeton (12-3) leads Dartmouth (10-5) by two games, with Harvard, Brown and Columbia all three games back of Princeton, all at 9-6. Harvard is at Dartmouth for three this weekend while Brown hosts Yale and Columbia hosts Cornell.Â
On the season overall, Princeton leads the Ivy in batting average (.317), Sonia Zhang leads in runs scored (32), Julia Dumais and Lauren Sablone co-lead in triples (four), and Karis Ford leads in walks (26). In Ivy games, Princeton leads in batting average (.332), ERA (1.88), fielding percentage (.986), has the top two pitchers in the league in ERA in Brielle Wright (1.35) and Cassidy Shaw (2.14), Allison Ha and Ford co-lead in RBI (20), Dumais and Sablone co-lead in triples (three), Ford leads in walks (18), Wright co-leads in wins (six, with Dartmouth's Jensin Hall), and Wright leads in shutouts (three).
Princeton leads the all-time series with Monmouth 13-3. The Tigers won the first nine games while going 4-3 since, though just two of those games, both Princeton wins, have come with any of the current Tigers. Princeton won a 7-5 game in West Long Branch in 2022 and won a 3-0 game last season in Princeton.
Against Penn, Princeton leads the all-time series 73-33, and in games involving current Tigers, Princeton has won eight of nine, sweeping the three-game series in Princeton in 2022, taking two of three in Philadelphia in 2023, and sweeping three in Princeton last season.Â
Monmouth was picked eighth in the 12-team Coastal Athletic Association poll with junior third baseman Savannah Simons among 13 on the preseason all-conference team. The Hawks enter the week ninth in the league. The top six teams will make the CAA tournament, and the Hawks, at 7-14 in the CAA, are four games back of sixth-place Hofstra (11-10).Â
