Tuesday's doubleheader against Rider will be Princeton's final regular-season home games, but the Tigers will be aiming for more games at Cynthia Lynn Paul '94 Field when they head up to Brown this weekend. One win against the Bears will ensure that the Tigers will host the Ivy League Tournament next weekend, as that would ensure Princeton will finish with no more than five Ivy League losses and every other team in the league already has six.Â
Against Rider, Princeton holds an all-time series edge of 50-13. Since the pandemic pause, Princeton has gone 4-1-1 against the Bears with four straight wins, sweeping twinbills in Lawrenceville in 2023 and at home in 2024. Against Brown, Princeton leads 64-19-1. Over the last three seasons, Princeton has gone 6-3 against the Bears, sweeping three games in 2022 in Princeton, taking two of three in Providence in 2023 and winning one of three last year in Princeton.
On the season overall, Princeton leads the Ivy League in batting average .317, and this weekend, the Tigers will face the team that leads the Ivy in ERA in Brown (2.80) where the Tigers are third (3.95). Princeton has the Ivy leaders in runs scored (Sonia Zhang, 32), triples (Julia Dumais and Lauren Sablone, 4), and walks (Karis Ford, 26).
In Ivy play, the Tigers lead in both batting average (.332) and ERA (1.88) as well as fielding percentage (.986). Fueling the league-best ERA are the top two pitchers in the Ivy in ERA in Brielle Wright (1.35 ERA) and Cassidy Shaw (2.14). Allison Ha and Sonia Zhang co-lead the Ivy in RBI in league games at 20 apiece, while Julia Dumais and Lauren Sablone co-lead in triples with three each and Ford leads with 18 walks.
Brown has players in position to win what would be both the pitching and hitting triple crowns in the Ivy on overall season stats. Laurel Moody leads the league in batting average at .463, RBI at 36, and homers at 14, as well as hits with 50, total bases at 100, OBP at .548, and slugging percentage at .926, while Alexis Guevara has a league-best 12 wins, 1.70 ERA and 117 Ks. Guevara was in the circle for both Brown wins in the series last season, first going all eight innings in a 6-4 Bears win before going the distance again in a 2-1, seven-inning win the next day. In the Princeton series last year, Moody went 4 for 10 with three walks, one double and no RBI, leading off all three games. This season, Brown is 18-7 in games in which Guevara pitches and 9-6 in games in which Guevara doesn't pitch. Guevara appeared in all three games of the series against two of the other three Ivy League Tournament contenders, doing so against Columbia and Harvard with two starts and a relief appearance in each series. Brown is 25-6 this season in games in which Moody gets a hit and 2-7 in games in which she does not get a hit. In Ivy games, Moody leads the league in batting average at .469, hits (23), homers (eight), total bases (47), slugging percentage (.959).

Brielle Wright has already started twice as many games this season (20) as in her first two seasons (10) and is closing in on throwing twice as many innings this season (109 2/3) as she had over her first two seasons (128). Has dropped opponent BA each season, from .292 in 2023 to .245 in 2024 to .229 this season.
