PRINCETON, N.J. – Ed Nutt, Dan Cashman & Matt Cashman of the Princeton University heavyweight rowing team were selected to the Under 23 Australian National Team.
The trio will race at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Poznan, Poland, from July 23-27 in the 8+.
"I'm incredibly proud of Ed, Dan & Matt for earning the opportunity to represent their country," said Head Coach Greg Hughes. "Ed has been there before, but this will be the first time Matt and Dan have competed on this stage. They model what it means to be a Princeton rower through their work ethic, professionalism and team-first attitudes. I can't wait to see what they do in Poland this July."
Nutt is coming off a 2025 season where he helped the 1V win bronze at Eastern Sprints and set a Lake Carnegie best time against No. 4 Brown on May 3. He also helped the 1V defeat Yale, Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Navy, La Salle and Temple in 2025. Nutt rowed for Australia at the 2024 U23 World Championships in St. Catharine's, Ontario, and helped the green and gold win bronze in the 8+.
Matt Cashman had an impressive freshman season for Princeton. He helped the 2V win silver at Eastern Sprints and the Petite Final at the Intercollegiate Rowing Associate (IRA) National Championships. He was on the 1V that won the Carnegie Cup against Yale and Cornell and led the 2V to wins over Navy, Temple, La Salle and Georgetown.
Dan Cashman was also on the 2V that won silver at Eastern Sprints, and the 1V that finished fourth in the Grand Final at IRAs. He was also on the 1V that defeated Navy, Georgetown, La Salle and Temple along with the 2V that took down Yale, Cornell and Columbia.
"Matt and I are so excited to be racing for Australia in the men's eight and are looking forward to continuing our development as athletes and the racing in the coming weeks," said Dan Cashman. "This is our first National Team and we can't wait to represent Australia and Princeton on the international level. Our training at Princeton this year really prepared us for selection and we look forward to bringing all that we learn back to Princeton, too"
