Tigers Take Penn in Ivy Opener
September 19, 2025 | Women's Soccer
For the third straight year against Penn, the Princeton women's soccer team was a 1-0 winner, and for the eighth straight year, the Tigers were winners over the Quakers, each time by a single goal.
This year, that one goal came from Isabella Garces, who took a centering pass from Ally Murphy and blasted home a shot from the top of the 18 just more than 10 minutes into the game.
On a night that saw Princeton outshoot Penn 16-3 overall and 7-2 on goal, that was enough to win, with keeper Cecilia Cerone making those two saves and the Tiger back line helping to turn in the team's third shutout of the season, all in the last five games.
Now at 1-0 in the Ivy League, Princeton will keep the Ivy season going with a visit to Harvard on Sept. 27.
