PRINCETON – The San Diego Toreros rallied to take down the Princeton Football Team, 42-35, at Powers Field at Princeton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

San Diego scored on its final three possessions with Adam Criter's four-yard touchdown run with 1:04 to go being the game-winning score.

The Tigers drove to the San Diego 44-yard line for one final heave, but the pass was knocked away.

Marco Scarano led the Tigers with 18 tackles, marking the first Princeton player to record that many since Rohan Hylton posted 18 vs. Colgate on Oct. 11, 2014.

Asher Weiner scored from one yard out to get the scoring started as Princeton drove down the field on the first possession in just four minutes.

Scarano forced a fumble on the next series with Caden Wright scooping up the loose ball to give the Tigers possession. Dareion Murphy punched in a one-yard score, giving the Tigers a 14-0 advantage.

After a San Diego punt, Ethan Clark went 55 yards to paydirt!

It was the second multi-touchdown performance of Clark's career and the first one of Murphy's tenure.

San Diego's Josh Heverly registered a 17-yard touchdown reception with 15 seconds to go in the first half to make 35-21. Princeton generated 338 yards of offense in the first 30 minutes.

Head coach Bob Surace's defensed forced three punts to begin the second half before the Toreros rallied.

The Toreros converted all three third down chances in the fourth quarter and finished 14-of-21 in the contest on third down. Criter led the road squad with 173 all-purpose yards while Heverly caught two touchdowns in the victory.

Clark finished with 72 yards rushing while 10 different Tigers caught a pass. In addition to Scarano's 18 stops, Chase Christopher had seven tackles and a sack in the loss.

Princeton will head to Lafayette next Saturday (Sept. 27) with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. The Leopards defeated Columbia, 38-14, on Friday.
