Women's Soccer Battles Back to Draw Miami
September 04, 2025 | Women's Soccer
Rookie Nina Cantor scored her first career goal and senior Pia Beaulieu tied it in her return to her home state of Florida as the Princeton women's soccer team drew Miami 2-2 on Thursday night.
Princeton outshot the Hurricanes 17-10 overall and 10-7 on goal, an advantage the Tigers gained by turning it up in the second half. After the break, Princeton more than doubled up Miami on total shots, 13-5.
Sydney Romano took over between the posts for the Tigers in relief of Cecilia Cerone, who left the game in the 34th minute due to injury. Romano had four of Princeton's five saves on the night and was unscored upon in her 56-plus minutes as Princeton rallied from a 2-0 hole less than 18 minutes into the game.
A penalty kick for Miami's Emilie Simpson in the sixth minute put the Hurricanes on the board, and Ciara Alarcon doubled the lead 11 minutes later when she finished off a crossing pass.
Princeton opened the scoring when Cantor knocked in the rebound off a Dylan Jovanovic shot on goal in the 60th minute, and with just more than seven minutes to play, Alexandra Barry's try off a Rebecca Sherry corner kick was tipped away by Miami's second-half keeper Atlee Olofson, but Beaulieu was there to knock in the rebound and tie it.
Princeton will return home for a visit from Villanova next Thursday, Sept. 11.
