Men’s Basketball Falls in OT at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite four players scoring in double figures, the Princeton University men's basketball team could not hold on against Harvard inside Lavietes Pavilion Saturday afternoon and fell in overtime, 87-80.
Freshman Landon Clark led the Tigers with a game and career-high 19 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field and 5-for-9 shooting from three, with his five made three-pointers also a career-high. Clark also tied his career-high in rebounding with eight. Sophomore Malik Abdullahi recorded his first career double-double with 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting and a team and career-high 10 rebounds, while junior Jackson Hicke added 17 points on 7-for-14 shooting, four rebounds and two assists. Junior Dalen Davis also finished in double figures with 10 points and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
The game began as a back-and-forth battle, with the Crimson taking a 12-10 edge with 12:48 on the clock. With 12:21 remaining in the half, a layup by Abdullahi ignited a 7-0 run that put the Tigers in front, 17-12, at 10:29.
A Clark three-pointer followed by an Abdullahi layup would give Princeton a double figure advantage, 29-19, with 4:19 remaining in the half and the Tigers would take a 43-30 lead into halftime.
Princeton started the second half strong, with a Davis jumper then an Abudllahi layup extending the Tigers' lead to 15 with 15:02 remaining, 52-37. At 7:37, another Abdullahi layup put Princeton in front, 65-48, as the momentum stayed with the Tigers.
Harvard was able to narrow the deficit to single figures, 70-61, with 2:57 on the clock. The Crimson closed the half out on an 11-0 run, which tied the score at 72-72 at the end of regulation and sent the game to overtime.
Overtime saw Harvard open with a 9-0 run, extending their run to 20-0 and putting the Crimson ahead 82-71. While a pair of Clark free throws followed by an Abdullahi dunk narrowed the deficit back to five, 83-78, at 0:22, Harvard held on for the 87-80 victory.
