Foster Sets Ivy League Long Jump Record at Quaker Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – In an outstanding early season performance, Greg Foster set a new Ivy League record in the long jump and three other Tigers set meet records as Princeton competed at the Quaker Invitational on Saturday.
Foster, the five-time Ivy League long jump champion, started his season with an 8.07m / 26-05.75" performance in the event. In addition to a new Ivy record, the mark currently ranks second on the NCAA qualifying list.
Having a day, Foster also set a new meet record in the 60m hurdles, running 7.85 for second place and a new PR. Yuki Hojo also set a new personal best of 8.03 in the event.
Jackson Clarke and Jadon Spain had solid performances in the 60m, setting new meet records in the prelims. Clarke, running a new personal best, ran 6.70, while Spain ran 6.75. Clarke's performance ranks 39th on the current NCAA list.
In the final, both Tigers ran .02 seconds longer, but still under the previous meet record. Clarke took second and Spain took fourth.
In the shot put, Joe Licata set a new meet record as he threw 19.06m / 62-06.50".
Also excelling in the field events, Jacob Emerson set a new PR as he cleared 5.15m/16-10.75". His mark ranks 33rd across Division I this season.
Joey Gant and Karl Dietz finished first and second in the 400m, running 48.08 and 48.16, respectively.
In the middle distance events, Collin Boler took third in the mile (4:09.47), while Avery Keith set a new PR in the 1000m of 2:29.21.
With a solid day of records and strong performances down the roster, the Tigers will look to build on this momentum all season. They will next look ahead to another battle in Philadelphia next weekend, Jan. 22-24, for the Penn Elite.
