Clarke Sets New Ivy League 200m Record As Tigers Compete at Penn Elite, Dr. Sander

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Highlighted by a new Ivy League record and NCAA #2 performance in the 200m by Jackson Clarke, and an NCAA top-10 time in the 4x400 relay, the Princeton men's track and field team competed at the Penn Elite on Saturday. The Tiger throws squad also split off to the Dr. Sander Scorcher in New York City, with Asher Robbins and Joe Licata picking up event wins.
Having an outstanding day, Clarke first had a standout performance in the 200m, running a season best 20.63 to rank second in the NCAA. An indoor personal best, the mark is an Ivy League indoor all-time best. His mark bested the previous league record of 20.82, set by Cornell's Bruno Hortelano-Roig in 2014.
Then, in the 4x400, a squad of Jonathan York, Clarke, Xavier Donaldson and Joey Gant ran a blazing time of 3:07.32. The mark set a new #10 time in the NCAA, and ranks second all-time in Princeton history. The performance was also a Penn Elite meet record.
Jadon Spain had a solid performance in the 60m, setting a new PR of 6.72 in the prelims to qualify for the final. In the final, Spain bested his previous time, running 6.68 to win the event and rank third in Princeton history. His mark is a new NCAA #37.
Similarly, Greg Foster set another personal record in the 60mH, first running 7.83 in the prelims before claiming victory with another new best of 7.77 in the final. Continuing to climb in the record book, he is now tied for second in school history.
Both Spain and Foster were just 0.01 seconds off from the program record in their respective events.
Six Tigers set new PRs in the 3000m in Brian Boler, Myles Hogan, Hayden Boaz, Jackson Shorten, Avery Keith and Christian Groendyk, with Boler taking a team-best third.
First-year Robert Ruffini took second place in the high jump, clearing 2.00m / 6-06.75".
Also in the field events, Mike Dallal made a new PR of 12.23m / 40-01.50" in the shot put.
Over at The Armory in NYC, Robbins won the weight throw with a new personal-best mark of 21.11m / 69-03.25". Climbing up, he now ranks fourth in the program record book in the event.
Licata and Casey Helm finished first and second in the shot put. Licata threw 19.22m / 63-00.75", while Helm tallied 17.88m / 58-08.00".
