Jaffe, Zein Advance to Round of 16 at CSA Individuals

Top-seeded and defending champion Zeina Zein and rookie Alex Jaffe have advanced to the Ramsay Cup round of 16 at the CSA Individual Championships in New York.
Zein will take on Penn's Malak Taha, seeded 17-20, in a noon start on Saturday, and Jaffe will take on Virginia's fifth-seeded Charlotte Pastel in a 12:50 p.m. start at Open Squash FiDi.
All five Tigers in the field advanced out of the round of 64, Zein with a bye and Jaffe with a three-game win over Amherst's Kanzy Elkaliuoby, Charlotte Bell with a three-game win over Drexel's Luciana Castillo, Emma Trauber with a three-game win over Tufts' Ella Hill, and Caroline Eielson with a win in three over Yale's Spring Ma.
The bracket then had Jaffe and Bell meet in the round of 32, with Jaffe defeating her teammate in three games, while Zein moved past Tufts' Vharshmithraa Dinesh in three. Trauber fell to Penn's Sohaila Ismail in three, while Eielson got a game off of Cornell's seventh-seeded Yee Xin Ying before falling in four games.

Trauber, Bell and Eielson will compete in consolation mathches on Saturday, with Bell taking on Cornell's Vicky Lai and Trauber taking on Virginia's Maria Min, both at 12:30 p.m., and Eielson meeting Yale's Elise Kang at 1:20.
