No. 19 Women's Basketball Drops Contest To Columbia, 73-67

PRINCETON – The No. 19 Princeton Women's Basketball Team fell to the Columbia Lions, 73-67, at Jadwin Gym on Friday evening.
Columbia started off quickly with eight of the first 10 points before Princeton countered with consecutive buckets from Madison St. Rose.
The Lions knocked down six consecutive shots to take a 21-14 advantage, but the Tigers closed the gap to two, 23-21, after 10 minutes.
St. Rose's basket at the 2:47 mark of the second quarter gave Princeton the lead for the first time, 33-32. Columbia would eventually lead 37-36 at halftime.
A 9-3 run to begin the second half extended the Lions' advantage to seven, 46-39, forcing a Tigers' timeout. The road team led by as many as eight before holding a 54-50 lead into the final stanza.
Nweke's layup with 3:43 remaining cut the home unit's deficit to three, 62-59, but Columbia countered with seven straight. Princeton never got closer than six the rest of the way.
Olivia Hutcherson and St. Rose led the Tigers with 17 points each. Hutcherson had a double-double, adding 10 rebounds and five steals. Skye Belker dropped in 16 points in the loss.
Princeton falls to 17-2 overall and 5-1 in the Ivy League while Columbia improves to 14-5 and 5-1 in conference action. The Tigers welcome Cornell to Jadwin Gym on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
