Princeton Edged By No. 13 NC State 4-3
February 06, 2026 | Men's Tennis
Once again the Princeton men's tennis team went toe-to-toe with a Top 25 team, only to fall just a hair short of a win.
North Carolina State, ranked 13th this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, edged Princeton 4-3 in a marathon match in Raleigh. The indoor facility at NC State has four courts, so the last two singles matches had to wait until the first four had ended, and NC State took those final two matches to pull out the victory.
Princeton's Paul Inchauspe, ranked seventh this week in singles, defeated No. 11 Martin Borisiouk 6-4, 6-4 in the marquee matchup of the night. Princeton also picked up wins at No. 2, where Top Nidunjianzan defeated Ainius Sabaliauskas 7-6, 6-4, and No. 3, where Landon Ardila defeated No. 69 Jules Leroux 6-3, 6-4.
North Carolina State won the doubles point and won at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Princeton finishes its southern swing with a Sunday match at the University of North Carolina.
"Once again, we put ourselves in a great position to win against a top 15 team," said Princeton head coach Billy Pate. "After a doubles point in which we didn't play our best, we came out strong in singles and captured first sets on all 4 of the matches on court. We capitalized on 3 of the 4 of those matches but couldn't quite close it out. We know NC State is a team that won't quit, and credit goes to them for rallying for the win. Our guys are resilient and we'll get right back to work in preparation for UNC."
