About the Tigers
- Princeton most recently split duals with Harvard and Brown last weekend, dropping a close one to the Crimson before picking up a solid 27-18 win over the Bears.
- Three Tigers went 2-0 on the weekend in Eligh Rivera, Ty Whalen and Holden Garcia.
- Rivera had two victories by decision, while Whalen and Garcia each picked up a major and either a fall or tech fall across the two matches.
- First-year Matthew Martino has been on a tear as of late, coming up with another come-from-behind victory at Harvard as he scored 14 unanswered points to win against Dante Frinzi.
- The performance comes just a week after Martino upset #14 Eli Griffin, battling back after being down using a seven-point play.
- With last weekend's results, the Tigers are now 3-8 on the year in duals and 1-2 in the Ivy League.
- Three of the Tigers' losses have been to ranked opponents, including #19 Pitt, #22 WVU and #20 Lehigh.
- Having a strong season, Rivera and Whalen each had podium finishes at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas invite in December, with Rivera taking silver in the 149 class and Whalen taking bronze at 165.
- En route to the final match, Rivera had two straight top-5 wins as he took down #3 Lachlan McNeil in the quarterfinal before downing #4 Jacob Frost in the semifinal.
- Whalen's weekend in Vegas saw the junior get two tech falls and a major as he worked back from a semifinal loss to take third place.
- Princeton boasted five NCAA qualifiers in 2025, with three still competing this season in McGowan, Rivera and Whalen.
- The Tigers are led by Head Coach Joe Dubuque, in his third year at the helm. The former national champion from Indiana is joined by fellow national champions Cody Brewer, head assistant coach, and Anthony Ashnault, assistant coach, both in their second year with the Tigers. Assistant Coach Ryan Wolfe, in his first year at Princeton, rounds out the Tiger corner.
